The app
LaneBuddy checks the names your Mac looks up against its block lists on your Mac. The DNS log, your rules, and your backups are stored in LaneBuddy's data folder on your Mac and are not sent to us. Names that are allowed are answered by Quad9 (Quad9 Foundation, Switzerland), as with any DNS resolver.
LaneBuddy downloads its block lists from HaGeZi's public lists. These downloads contain nothing about you.
Community reports are off by default. If you turn them on, a report contains the rule, your platform, and a hash of a random install id. It contains no name, email, or address of yours.
The launch list on this website
If you leave your email address to hear about the launch, we store the address, the language of your browser, and the time you signed up, in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore). We use it for one email when LaneBuddy is available, and for nothing else. We do not share or sell it.
To limit abuse we count sign-ups per network address for one hour. We keep only a one-way hash of that address, never the address itself.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in our email, and your address is deleted at once. You may also ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete it.
